Amrit is a 2022 research intern in the Applied Sciences Group (ASG) at Microsoft, where she is working on disfluency detection.

She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in computer science and engineering at the University of Michigan.  Her research interests revolve around behavioral signal processing and machine learning.  She has experience analyzing how speech and language can be predictors of emotion, stress, as well as the severity of health conditions such as Parkinson’s disease.  Her current focus is on improving disfluency detection methods with the goal of making speech-based technologies more accessible.

In her spare time, Amrit enjoys reading, travelling, biking, and rock climbing.
