Our ambition on trust

Thanks to Digital AmBEtion, our country will be one of the least vulnerable countries in the EU by 2025. The datacenter region in Belgium offers local data residency while benefiting from Microsoft's global hyperscale cloud infrastructure. Security and trust are some of the key pillars and concerns in driving Belgium's digital transformation.

An icon of a magnifying glass analyzing the data

We analyze more than 43 trillion signals via email, endpoints and identities every day, and translate this information into innovative features to protect our customers even better. Last year alone, we stopped more than 90 billion cyber attacks.

An icon with a lock symbol of protection

We spend $1 billion every year on security research and development. We also deploy more than 8500 cybersecurity experts worldwide to protect against threats. Over the next five years, we’ll invest $20 billion to improve our security solutions and protect customers.

An icon of a shield with a keyhole

Security starts with the physical security of our datacenter facilities and infrastructure (e.g. access requests, fencing, secure access to buildings, biometric authentication between rooms).

An icon of a protected and encrypted cloud

Microsoft is leading the way in Confidential Computing - as we actively deploy hardware that can be authenticated by the customer with remote attestation and a hardware root of trust. While data at rest or in transition is already encrypted, Azure Confidential Computing goes a step further by protecting your data as it is being processed.

An icon Microsoft Cloud for Sovereignty

Through Microsoft Cloud for Sovereignty, governments and public sector customers can achieve their digital transformation while maintaining their privacy and compliance requirements. By providing governance, privacy, transparency and sovereign technology combined with strategic partners, Microsoft can support the digital transformation of government customers like no other cloud provider in the world.

An icon EU data boundary

The EU Data Boundary (EU Data Boundary) for the Microsoft Cloud ensures that data from EU customers is processed and stored in the European Union. This applies to all of Microsoft's major platforms such as Azure, Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365.

Microsoft's Security

Stephanie De Bruyne, CEO of Belgian Mobile ID: "Our itsme® application delivers a secure and reliable digital identity that enables mobile authentication and digital signing. We chose Microsoft because of their holistic vision on security, trust and data processing within EU borders. The new Belgian datacenter region will allow us to bring data even closer to our end users."
