In Season 2, Dave and Lisa’s workplace romance finally becomes common knowledge at the station, only to create more problems than it solves. As his management skills are challenged by the staff’s fondness for a pet rat, festering disagreements over some questionable promotions, and the surprisingly negative response to Jimmy’s generous holiday gifts, Dave continues struggling to strike the right balance between being an effective boss and a good friend. While conducting a drawn-out search for a new wife, Jimmy risks everyone’s future, first by announcing that he’s putting the station up for sale and then by losing Bill’s contract in a high-stakes poker game. But each potential disaster is overcome by the station’s harebrained yet loyal staff, and WNYX continues to survive even as a parade of Lisa’s ex-boyfriends threaten her relationship with Dave.
