Prajakta Kulkarni is a software engineer in Microsoft’s Applied Sciences Group (ASG) working on next-generation user experiences and incubation projects.

Before joining ASG she worked on different teams in the Windows and Devices organizations at Microsoft, where she helped ship apps and platform experiences for a variety of Microsoft devices including Windows Phone, desktop, Xbox One and new Surface devices.  She designed and built various features to enable audio calling experiences on devices that shipped over multiple Windows releases.

Prajakta believes strongly in promoting inclusivity and is inspired by Microsoft’s commitment to accessibility.  As an accessibility (“A11y”) driver, she is passionate about developing "design for all" user-interface experiences.  Apart from technical work, she also helped drive and host diversity and inclusion events to promote growth-mindset practices at work as part of the Windows culture committee.

Her research work includes mobile medical health solutions.  She has also previously worked in the wireless industry.

Prajakta holds an M.S. in computer science and a B.S. in electrical engineering.

Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, volunteering at public schools and non-profit organizations, home projects, and cooking with her young children.
