Flavio Ribeiro is a research manager with the Applied Sciences Group (ASG). His interests include hardware, sensors, signal processing, optimization, fast transforms, acoustics,and computational linear algebra.
He and his team incubate hardware and algorithms that are one to three years out. Previous work includes microphone array processing, force sensing, haptics, touch processing, electrostatic stylus technology, and inertial navigation.
Before joining ASG, Flavio worked as an engineer at Licht Labs, where he developed mission-critical electronics for controlling power generation and distribution. In the summers of 2009, 2010 and 2011, he was a research intern at Microsoft Research, Redmond, working with the Multimedia, Interaction and Communication group.
He holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering (2012) and B.S. degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics (2005 and 2008 respectively) from the University of São Paulo.
