In a season that includes guest appearances by Sally Field, Sting, Elvis Costello and Jon Stewart, Larry (Garry Shandling) faces a TV critic's harsh review and a new girlfriend's efforts to use him to further her own acting career. As Larry learns that David Duchovny has a crush on him, Hank's (Jeffery Tambor) efforts to console his heartbroken assistant in the aftermath of a failed romance have him fending off suspicions that he's gay, too. There's more trouble afoot when, after his latest girlfriend has a damaging effect on his work, Phil tries to hamstring the chances of a new female writer. But as Arthur's (Rip Torn) longtime obsession with Angie Dickinson rears its head, and Hank is cast as the voice of a half-wit character in a new Disney film, Larry sets out to write a tell-all show business memoir, only to find that his producer has been working on one, too.
